An interpretation on what real Deku might look like living deep in the forest. In the Legend of Zelda universe the Deku are a race of humanoid plant-like beings that often co-exist with other races. The term Deku often refers to certain plants or plant based items as well. (Click image to see full resolution.)
Oh wooowwww.... Not only the Deku designs but the atmosphere in this is just amazing! I can really feel the sense of their community here, so far hidden away in the forest on this rainy day.... I wonder what their lives are like....
That is creepy and yet so insanely awesome; you make it look scary, like it's something that Link definitely wouldn't want to meet on a dark night, but you also make it look like something that Link would walk up to to ask for directions or get information. King of like it's the eerie guardian of the woods, watching over everything. Excellent work!
I'm really blown away by this concept, and most of what I noticed was covered in other comments except two things that I think are the coolest, but I also kind of wonder if it's just me? First, I love how their "hair" looks like it's braided. I know some plants grow that way, which makes it even cooler! Secondly, is it me, or is the one on the stump in the back left side the Deku King? Because it kinda looks like he's wearing the bulbous red crown
What an interesting way to interpret how these would look in reality! 8D
Everything here is so beautiful, from the calm atmosphere and the curious eyes observing us from inside the tree's trunk to the foreground cutie with his tongue-feeler. I love how some parts of his body are clearly greener than the others, perhaps suggesting that they're newer than the rest, or perhaps replacing broken or injured parts, and how many of the vines(for a lack of a better word) seem to follow the shapes of bones and muscles, and I like how we can see tiny bits of light between the vines on the foreground fella's body. It makes me wonder what it looks like under all the bark and vines.
You've nailed a lot of the things I was attempting to convey. Even in the atmosphere, from a human perspective this image may seem gloomy, but to plant-like creature, rain might be liberating and plentiful occasion. What could be miserable to us might be a joyous and relaxing time for them.
